The year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Brazil. It is also the first year for the Belt and Road cooperation to enter the next "Golden decade." In order to raise China-Latin America cooperation in science, technology and innovation to a higher level, lift China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level, and contribute to the steady and long-term development of China-Latin America relations in the new era of equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness and benefiting the people, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, under the guidance of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center (CLTTC), jointly sponsored by the Sao Paulo Foundation of Brazil and the China Science and Technology Exchange Center, and the Sao Paulo Week International Academic Conference in Brazil, was successfully held in Dongguan and Shenzhen on June 28-29, 2024.

At the beginning of the event, the Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, extended warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the guests, experts, scholars, business representatives and all the participants coming from afar. Subsequently, the Deputy Director General pointed out on the theme of the conference that the conference aims to build a high-level international scientific and technological exchange platform, focus on the frontier areas and hot issues of scientific and technological innovation, and promote the collision of ideas and wisdom between different countries and regions. The participants are expected to make full use of this platform to actively share research results, exchange innovation experience and explore cooperation opportunities, so as to jointly contribute to the prosperity and development of scientific and technological innovation between China and Brazil.

During the event, Chinese and foreign experts and scholars held a roundtable dialogue on the theme of "Creating a new ecology for China-Latin America Science and Technology Cooperation, Creating new prosperity for global industrial development," and visited innovative enterprises and research institutions in the field of science and technology in Dongguan and Shenzhen, which provided a solid foundation for deepening China-Latin America science and technology innovation cooperation and promoting the coordinated development of industry, university and research.

As one of the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Pakistan, the conference held a series of activities, including the study tour, the opening ceremony and the China-Pakistan Friendship Night, attracting nearly 200 Chinese and foreign representatives from hundreds of governments, research institutions, universities and technology transfer centers from China, Brazil, Spain and other countries.
