To further deepen scientific and technological innovation cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries, and to propel bilateral relations to new heights, in accordance with the work deployments of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center (CLTTC) successfully held the China-LAC Technology Transfer Cooperation and Development Conference in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, on October 30-31. Nearly 100 Chinese and foreign delegates from governments, universities and research institutions, enterprises, and other organizations across China and Latin American countries such as Bolivia, Uruguay, and Argentina participated in the event. Zhuang Jia, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Hugo Siles, Ambassador of Bolivia to China, Facundo Guerra, Consul General of Uruguay in Guangzhou, Brian, Deputy Consul General of Argentina in Guangzhou, Gong Jianwen, Second Class Inspector of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, Li Hongzhi, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Li Jun, Vice Mayor of the Dongguan Municipal People's Government, and Ma Hongwei, President of Dongguan University of Technology, were among the leaders and guests who attended the meeting.

The grand event featured a series of activities, including Latin American country-specific policy seminars, exchange conferences, research and inspection tours. The participating scholars and guests focused on how to advance the in-depth and practical cooperation in scientific and technological innovation between China and Latin America, as well as how to leverage technology transfer to facilitate sustainable and mutual development for all parties, engaging in productive discussions. Additionally, visits and inspections were organized to outstanding scientific research institutions and innovative enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

During the event, with the joint witness of Chinese and foreign delegates, the "China-Latin America Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program and the First Innovation Tour in China for Latin American Young Scientists hosted by CLTTC & CMSK" was officially launched. Subsequently, the global scientific and technological innovation collaboration network, including the Latin American Research Institute, China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, overseas innovation branches, and university partners, will collaborate with the China Merchants C-Star Overseas Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program to jointly carry out a series of training and activities such as online and offline innovation and entrepreneurship training camps for Latin American youth and the Latin American Young Scientists' Innovation Tour in China. These efforts will promote the transformation and application of scientific and technological innovations between China and Latin America, provide more opportunities for Latin American young scientists to exchange and study in China, and lay a solid talent foundation for the long-term development of China-Latin America scientific and technological cooperation.

China and Latin America have been working together as a driving force for cooperative development. Over the past 11 years, China and Latin America have leveraged high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative as a practical platform, adhering to the principles of consultation, collaboration, and shared benefits for joint development. From vision to action, from blueprint to reality, friendly cooperation between China and Latin America in various fields has flourished and yielded fruitful results. This exchange event established an open, reciprocal, and diverse international exchange platform for innovation cooperation between China and Latin American countries. Participants reached a consensus on enhancing exchanges between Chinese and Latin American scientific and technological personnel, conducting international cooperative research projects, and facilitating technology transfer. They highly evaluated the achievements of China-Latin America scientific and technological cooperation and affirmed the significant role of the China-LAC Tech Transfer Center as a platform for promoting cooperation in related fields.

The successful hosting of this meeting highlights the core role of scientific and technological innovation cooperation in promoting the development of China-Latin America bilateral relations, which is conducive to advancing the sustained and healthy development of the China-Latin America relationship in the new era characterized by equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness, and benefiting the people. With the continuous deepening of international cooperation, the China-LAC Tech Transfer Center will continue to serve as a bridge and tie, contributing new strength to building a China-Latin America community with a shared future.
