To create an excellent cultural atmosphere for the Lantern Festival, enrich the spiritual and cultural life of foreign experts in Dongguan, and enliven the festive atmosphere, under the guidance of Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, a series of cultural activities of Dongguan Foreigners Club, including the "Dragons in Dongguan" Lantern Festival, was successfully held in Dongcheng on February 23, hosted by Dongguan International Center for Technology Transfer, with China-Latin America Technology Transfer Center (CLTTC) Enterprise Development Promotion Association (Preparation) as the supporting unit. The "Lantern Festival" 2024 Chinese and Foreign Talents Lantern Festival Exchange Activity was successfully held in Dongcheng. The activity aims to promote the friendship between Chinese and foreign talents, enhance communication between high-level talents in Dongguan, let foreign friends experience the meaning of traditional festivals, and spend the Lantern Festival in a joyful, civilized, harmonious, and festive atmosphere. Mr. Ma Jinhui, Secretary General of the CLTTC Enterprise Development Promotion Association (Preparation), attended the event as a representative.
At the event, foreign friends in Dongguan from many countries and their families, Chinese and foreign high-level talents, and special guests gathered together to celebrate the festival. They had a joyful experience of traditional Chinese Lantern Festival culture through handmade fan creation, topography experience, red packet wall lucky draw, soup dumplings, and other activities.
Mr. Huang Zhijun, Chief of Science and Technology Cooperation and Intelligence Introduction Management Section of Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau, attended the event. He delivered a speech, mentioning that Dongguan has permanently attached great importance to talent attraction and cultivation of enterprises' innovation ability, has always regarded talent as a treasure, and has been sincere in loving, nurturing, attracting, and using talent with great care, and that it will continue to organize more exchange series, expecting more foreign friends to take part in them, and to share the colorful Dongguan in their eyes.
At the symposium, Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs, as well as foreign friends in Dongguan, expressed that Dongguan's entrepreneurial environment is getting better and better, both in terms of resources and talent. This attracts many foreign enterprises and talents to work and live here, which has made them even more determined to put down roots here and cooperate with Dongguan entrepreneurs to help Dongguan's high-quality development.
In recent years, Dongguan has seized the significant opportunity of building a high-level talent highland in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, attracting a large number of foreign talents to come to Dongguan, fall in love with Dongguan and settle in Dongguan. According to statistics, more than 4,500 foreigners work and live in Dongguan, the third largest in the province. Dongguan has always taken enterprises as the main body of innovation, accelerated the construction of the incubation and breeding system for science and technology enterprises, implemented the innovative enterprise echelon cultivation project, supported enterprises to participate in the construction of major scientific and technological infrastructures, and vigorously enhanced the innovation level of enterprises, to make enterprises become the main force of innovation and creativity. At present, the number of high-tech enterprises in Dongguan has exceeded 10,000.
In the future, CLTTC will continue to deepen the multi-level and wide-ranging cultural exchanges and cooperation between young scientists and technologists from China and Latin America, adding strong impetus to building a community of destiny between China and Latin America and promoting the common development of the globe.
