On July 13, the 11th Meeting of the China–Chile Intergovernmental Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation and the 3rd Meeting of the Science and Technology Subcommittee under the Intergovernmental Standing Committee were successfully convened. During the meetings, representatives of both sides reviewed a series of practical outcomes achieved in recent years through China–Chile science and technology cooperation and exchanges, and held in-depth discussions on priority areas and models for future cooperation, reaching a broad consensus on multiple cooperation matters.

During a meeting with Carolina Rossi, Undersecretary of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation of Chile, Zhang Guangjun, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, said that China and Chile are important science and technology cooperation partners to each other. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state and within the framework of the China–Chile intergovernmental science and technology cooperation, the two countries' science and technology cooperation has long maintained steady development, with fruitful and practical outcomes across various fields. Looking to the future, Zhang expressed the hope that both sides would build on past achievements and jointly write a new chapter in China–Chile science, technology and innovation cooperation, contributing scientific and technological strength to the economic and social development of both countries and to the well-being of their people. Rossi said that the meeting had been very successful. Over the past few years, Chile–China science and technology cooperation has achieved fruitful results in multiple fields and holds enormous potential. She expressed the hope that both sides would further consolidate cooperation mechanisms, expand cooperation areas, and increase people-to-people exchanges, creating more favorable conditions for cooperation between the science and technology communities of the two countries.

The meeting was attended by representatives from China's Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the China–Chile ICT Joint Laboratory, as well as Chile's Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, the National Research and Development Agency of Chile, the Chile Foundation, the University of Chile, and other institutions. A representative of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center delivered a thematic presentation focused on China–Chile technology transfer cooperation, stating that the Center will continue to advance the construction of the China–LAC Joint Laboratory for Smart Disaster Prevention and Emergency Joint Control of Urban Lifelines and promote the implementation of relevant cooperation projects, so as to deepen and substantiate China–Chile science, technology and innovation cooperation.
