On June 26th, the Fifth Meeting of the China-Uruguay Intergovernmental Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation was successfully held in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. Lin Xin, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China and Minister of Education and José Carlos Mahía, Minister of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay attended the meeting as the chairpersons of the current mixed committee and delivered speeches. Chen Baiman, the Executive Director of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, attended the meeting and delivered a special speech on deepening scientific and technological innovation cooperation between China and Uruguay. During the meeting, cooperation agreements were reached with several important institutions and universities in Uruguay.
Lin Xin stated that China is willing to work with Uruguay to enhance the alignment of scientific and technological innovation policies between the two sides, enrich the connotation of practical cooperation, expand exchanges of scientific and technological personnel, and jointly address global challenges. Maiya stated that the Ukrainian side highly appreciates the positive achievements made in scientific and technological cooperation between Uruguay and China in recent years and hopes that both sides will further deepen cooperation in advantageous fields in the future.
At the meeting, Chen Baiman introduced the construction plan of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center in his speech, stating that the focus will be on promoting the establishment of an innovation resource connection platform and the cultivation of professional technology transfer talents to better serve the scientific and technological innovation cooperation between China and Uruguay. During the conference, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay officially signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Jointly Building a Technology Transfer Center", and respectively signed cooperation memorandums with the University of the Republic of Uruguay and the Technological University of Uruguay. The signing of this series of cooperation documents will further deepen the practical cooperation between China and Uruguay in areas such as technology transfer and joint research and development, and inject new impetus into the scientific and technological innovation cooperation between the two sides.

After the meeting, the governments of China and Uruguay signed the minutes of the Fifth Meeting of the China-Uruguay Intergovernmental Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation.
The representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, the Institute of Crop Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Qingdao University, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, the China-Latin America Sustainable Food Innovation Center, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, the National Research and Innovation Agency of Uruguay, the National Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry of Uruguay, the University of the Republic of Uruguay, and the University of Science and Technology of Uruguay attended the meeting.
