From October 16th to 18th, 2024, the four-day “2024 Science and Technology Week and Innovation and Technology Achievement Exhibition (Sci-Tech Week)” was successfully held in Macao, China. Supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the Sci-Tech Week was hosted by the Macao Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) and ran concurrently with the Macao International Fair (MIF).
During the Sci-Tech Week, China-LAC Technology Transfer Center (CLTTC) was invited to participate in the “Industry-University-Research Cooperation Roadshow and Session of Exchange of Contacts between Mainland China and Macao” on October 17th. This event was jointly organized by the FDCT, the China Science and Technology Exchange Center, and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. Chen Baiman, Director of the CLTTC Office, Zhang Fanjing, Project Supervisor, and Huang Qiongli, Project Specialist, attended the event as invited guests.
Through the process of “preliminary solicitation - mid-term online roadshow - on-site negotiation during the event - follow-up tracking”, the matching event effectively facilitated exchanges and cooperation between over 20 scientific research achievements and technology enterprises from Macao and innovation entities from Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hunan, and other regions. A total of 30 Letters of Intent for cooperation were signed at the event. The objective of this event was to deepen cooperation in the field of industry-university-research between Mainland China and Macao, establish a platform for the exchange of talents, resources, and scientific and technological achievements, and promote the transfer and transformation of S&T achievements from Macao to mainland China.
At the meeting, Director Chen Baiman engaged in in-depth discussions with participating delegates and reached a preliminary cooperation intention with Professor Xu Ming, Director of the Jiangmen Dual Carbon Laboratory, on the “Agricultural Utilization of Carbon Dioxide” project to support potato production and income growth in countries such as Bolivia. Both parties agreed to strengthen communication and jointly promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements between China and Latin American countries, contributing to the deepening of China-Latin America relations.
