On the morning of May 14, Gustavo Pacheco López, Rector of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) of Mexico, Veronica Ortiz Pinchetti Vargas, Senior Vice Rector of UAM, and Liu Zhilong, representative of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Mexico Public Affairs Department, visited the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center. The parties held discussions on topics such as science and education cooperation, resource sharing, and information exchange, reaching preliminary consensus on collaboration and injecting new vitality into further cooperation and the coordinated development of science and education between China and Latin America. The exchange was attended by Chen Baiman, Director of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, Yao Fang, Deputy Director of Office Administration, China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, and other representatives of the Center.
During the meeting, the Center’s representatives introduced the Center’s development history and achievements in serving the overall diplomatic work of the country and implementing plans for scientific and technological innovation. They expressed the willingness to carry out in-depth cooperation with UAM, with particular emphasis on the overall development of the China-LAC Digital Education University Alliance. The Alliance is committed to becoming an internationally influential public service platform for digital education, focusing on three core missions: smart education reform, deep integration of industry, academia and research, and talent ecosystem development, so as to promote higher-quality development of the "Belt and Road" education cooperation.
The visiting representatives highly praised the bridging role and achievements of the Center since its establishment in promoting scientific and technological cooperation between China and Latin America, and expressed a positive attitude toward further strengthening exchanges and cooperation. The university representatives proposed enhancing collaboration in areas such as talent exchange and co-development of smart courses, and suggested signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to consolidate the cooperation foundation and open up cooperation channels, so as to deepen and substantiate science and education cooperation between the two sides.
In the future, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center will continue to adhere to the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, and will join forces with UAM, Huawei Technologies, and other relevant players in the science and innovation field between China and Latin America, to accelerate the implementation of science and education cooperation with concrete actions and jointly write a new chapter of friendly cooperation between China and Latin America.
