Deepening China-Chile Scientific and Technological Collaboration for a New Chapter in Bilateral Relations – Representatives of China-LAC Technology Transfer Center Visit the Consulate General of Chile in Guangzhou

China-Chile relations have long been at the forefront of China's relations with Latin American countries. Advancing bilateral ties is a common consensus across various sectors of both societies. On May 11, Huang Qiongli, Project Director of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, and Zhou Chang, Researcher at the Latin America Research Institute of the CLTTC, visited the Consulate General of Chile in Guangzhou. They held discussions with Consul General César Gamboa and other representatives on cooperation in the field of scientific and technological innovation, building a bridge for more practical and closer scientific and technological collaboration between the two sides.

During the meeting, the representatives of the Center stated that the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center has been actively implementing the "Belt and Road" Science, Technology and Innovation Action Plan, vigorously promoting in-depth cooperation between China and Latin America in areas such as scientific exchanges and technology transfer. They highlighted the Center's upcoming visit to Chile in May of this year, and provided a comprehensive overview of key cooperation initiatives, including the construction of the China-Chile International Joint Laboratory for Intelligent Disaster Prevention and Emergency Response in Ocean Engineering, the selection and recommendation of participants for the second Latin American Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program And the Innovation Tour of Chinese Market for Latin American Young Scientists, as well as the application for international science and technology cooperation projects.

César Gamboa acknowledged the achievements of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, and expressed his active support for the orderly progress of the Center’s cooperation initiatives. He pledged to facilitate the arrangements for the inspection tour in Chile and the recommendation of participants for the second Latin American Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program And the Innovation Tour of Chinese Market for Latin American Young Scientists. He also offered to coordinate resources from Chilean universities and research institutions to assist the Center in jointly applying for international science and technology cooperation projects, and to promote precise alignment of resources among all parties.

The meeting further consolidated the foundation for scientific and technological innovation cooperation between China and Chile. In the future, with the support of the Consulate General of Chile in Guangzhou, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center will continue to deepen practical cooperation with Chile in areas such as R&D, technology transfer, and talent cultivation, thereby promoting the sustained deepening of the China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership and ensuring that the outcomes of scientific and technological collaboration better benefit the people of both countries.
