To deepen scientific and technological exchanges and mutual learning among APEC economies, enhance development vitality through technological progress, and jointly promote coordinated development in the Asia-Pacific region, the seminar “Seminar on Strengthen the Internationalisation of S&T to Promote an Open innovation Ecosystem in Asia-Pacific Region” was held in Shenzhen on November 13-14. The event was organized by the Science and Technology Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The event brought together representatives from various sectors in China, Peru, Mexico, Singapore, and other countries to exchange views on topics including the internationalization of science and technology and open innovation ecosystems. Chen Baiman, Executive Director of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech titled “Sharing Experiences of China-Latin America International Science and Technology Cooperation.”

During the meeting, Chen Baiman stated that strengthening scientific and technological innovation and international cooperation is a critical global development issue and a necessary engine for promoting sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. The China-LAC Technology Transfer Center deeply implements the consensus reached by Chinese and Latin American leaders and the national deployment on scientific and technological innovation. It plays a leading role in China-LAC science and technology cooperation by creating a closed-loop ecosystem service system, building a technology transfer network, and strengthening the brand effect of the platform. Through these concrete pathways, it revitalizes the China-LAC resource ecosystem interaction circle and promotes the construction of a new pattern of open, inclusive, mutually beneficial, and win-win science and technology cooperation.

At present, the world is undergoing unprecedented changes in a century, with economic globalization deepening and global scientific and technological innovation entering an unprecedentedly intensive and dynamic phase. Scientific and technological innovation and open cooperation have become an intrinsic necessity for all countries to achieve high-quality development. The China-LAC Technology Transfer Center will keep pace with the times and seize cooperative opportunities. Through more resilient platform mechanisms and innovative scientific practices, it will collaborate with Latin American countries to chart a new course for technology transfer cooperation between China and Latin America, contributing to the technological and economic development of the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large.
