From November 6 to 8, the three-day “2024 China-Africa Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum” was successfully held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The forum was hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the People's Government of Hubei Province, and was organized by the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, China Centre for International Science and Technology Exchange, Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, and the Wuhan Municipal People’s Government. It gathered nearly 800 guests from 32 countries and regions, including China and Africa, to discuss new opportunities and future directions for China-Africa cooperation in scientific and technological innovation. Wan Weichao, the Financial Supervisor of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center (CLTTC), and Yang Ming, the Project Specialist, were invited to attend the event.
With the theme of "Innovation Promotes Cooperation, and Cooperation Writes a New Chapter," the forum aimed to deepen scientific and technological cooperation between China and Africa and promote exchanges and cooperation in multiple fields. This forum successfully attracted widespread attention nationwide, collecting a total of 321 achievements in China-Africa scientific and technological innovation cooperation. Seventeen international enterprise innovation centers, joint laboratories, and international enterprise incubators were established and awarded under the forum's organization. Additionally, the forum facilitated the on-site signing of 21 cooperation agreements, covering areas such as agricultural scientific and technological innovation, space technology, public health, fire emergency response, and humanities exchanges, jointly outlining the blueprint for China-Africa cooperation.
During the conference, the CLTTC was invited to participate in the supporting event, the “Finals of the Third China-Africa Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.” The competition focused on four major areas: digital economy, circular economy, health and new materials, and modern agriculture. Through three stages of project "solicitation, preliminary competition, and finals," 18 projects were awarded. The competition aimed to create a platform for China-Africa youth exchanges and cooperation, broaden the space for innovation and entrepreneurship cooperation, and stimulate the vitality of China-Africa youth in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Recently, the CLTTC has officially launched the "China-Latin America Youth Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program and the First Innovation Tour in China for Latin American Young Scientists hosted by CLTTC & CMSK" event.
