On September 2, 2024, the Dongguan Foreign Affairs Bureau hosted “Strengthening 'Five Foreign Links' and Exploring the Latin American Market - Dongguan-Latin American Countries Economic, Trade, and Investment Cooperation Symposium”. Attendees included Qiu Xiaoqi, Vice President of the China Public Diplomacy Association, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs, and former Ambassador to Brazil and Mexico, as well as Xing Wenju, Member of the Standing Committee of the Dongguan Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor. Chen Baiman, Director of the Office of CLTTC, also participated in the event and engaged in exchanges with participants.

During the symposium, Qiu Xiaoqi provided an in-depth sharing on "How Enterprises Can Explore the Latin American Market." He pointed out that Latin American countries are rich in resources, particularly offering immense cooperation potential in energy, technology, and digital economy. The signing of the China-Latin America Free Trade Agreement has facilitated bilateral trade, and Dongguan enterprises should seize this historical opportunity to actively explore the Latin American market.

Member of the Standing Committee Xing Wenju noted that cooperation between China and Latin American countries has continuously improved and upgraded in recent years. As an important city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Dongguan highly values friendly exchanges and cooperation with Latin American countries and looks forward to collaboration in agriculture, technology, economy, and trade, among other fields.

During the open discussion session, Director Chen Baiman and other delegates engaged in in-depth discussions on new opportunities and challenges for China-Latin America cooperation and put forward relevant suggestions on strengthening cooperation in technology, markets, and resources.

In recent years, Dongguan has conducted extensive and in-depth cooperation with Latin American countries in economy, trade, technology, culture, and other fields. As the only cross-border technology transfer institution in China facing Latin American and Caribbean countries, CLTTC will build a more solid platform for China-Latin America cooperation, promoting high-quality economic and trade development between the two sides.
