China-Argentina Innovation Cooperation Center Inaugurated in Argentina

This year marks the 54th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Argentina. To deepen China-Latin America scientific and technological innovation cooperation and help consolidate the China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership, the China-Argentina Innovation Cooperation Center was officially inaugurated on the afternoon of May 21 (local time) at the National University of Arturo Jauretche (UNAJ) in Argentina. The establishment of the center is an important practice in implementing the new era "China-LAC Science and Technology Partnership Program" , marking a new stage of institutionalized development in bilateral scientific and technological cooperation between China and Argentina, and injecting new momentum into the building of a China-Latin America community with a shared future.

Wang Xi, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and President of the Guangdong Overseas Friendship Association; Zhang Xiaowei, Science and Technology Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Argentina; Ma Wenfeng, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Guangdong Provincial Government; Chen Xiaofeng, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Committee; Li Xudong, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province; Zheng Yu, Vice President of Dongguan University of Technology; Li Yaoqiu, Fourth-level Researcher of the Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau; Lorena Baum, Vice Rector of the National University of Arturo Jauretche; Miguel Binstock, Secretary General of the National University of Arturo Jauretche; Damián Paikin, Director of the Strategic Planning and International Training Office of the Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Chen Baiman, Director of the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center, as well as other representatives from China and Argentina, jointly attended the inauguration ceremony, demonstrating a friendly consensus between the two sides to deepen scientific and technological innovation cooperation.

During the ceremony, Wang Xi emphasized that Guangdong Province ranks among the top in China in various economic and technological development indicators and is making every effort to build the Greater Bay Area into a dynamic, internationally competitive, world-class bay area and a global city cluster, creating broad space for better cooperation between China and Argentina. He expressed the hope that both sides would rely on the China-Argentina Innovation Cooperation Center to deepen cooperation in areas such as talent cultivation, youth exchanges, technology transfer, and the commercialization of achievements. Zhang Xiaowei noted that although China and Argentina are separated by vast distances, the friendship between the two countries has a long history and a solid foundation for cooperation. The Chinese government has always placed scientific and technological innovation at the core of national development. He expressed confidence that through joint efforts, the China-Argentina Innovation Cooperation Center will strengthen cooperation between the two countries in science, technology, education, culture, and other fields, bringing more benefits to people's livelihoods. Lorena Baum stated that the National University of Arturo Jauretche has long attached great importance to international cooperation and looks forward to using this opportunity to further promote exchanges and cooperation in science and technology between the two sides and deepen their friendly cooperative relationship.

China-Argentina Representatives Held Discussions

The inauguration of the China-Argentina Innovation Cooperation Center aims to establish a regular platform for technology transfer and talent exchange, further promoting cooperation between China and Argentina in areas such as intelligent manufacturing, digital education, biotechnology, and sustainable energy, facilitating the cross-border flow of innovation factors, and promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and regional industrial upgrading in China and Latin America. During the event, the China-LAC Technology Transfer Center also signed key documents with the National University of Arturo Jauretche, including a memorandum of understanding for the joint construction of the Argentina Innovation Cooperation Center and an agreement to join the China-Latin America Digital Education University Alliance. Furthermore, Dongguan University of Technology and the National University of Arturo Jauretche signed a course exchange cooperation agreement, further solidifying the foundation for cooperation among all parties.

Signing Ceremony Held

Currently, a wave of global innovation is surging, and a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is accelerating. As a node in the multilateral technology transfer cooperation network oriented towards Latin America, the China-Argentina Innovation Cooperation Center is the fifth overseas sub-center established by the China-Latin America Technology Transfer Center, following those in Cuba, Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil. It will become an important hub for promoting scientific and technological cooperation between China and Argentina. In the future, the China-Latin America Technology Transfer Center will continue to serve the country's diplomatic work and implement scientific and technological innovation deployment as its guide. Relying on an innovation cooperation network linking China and Latin America, it will integrate innovation resources from governments, universities, research institutions, and enterprises in China and Latin America, pragmatically advancing cooperation in areas such as innovation resource matching, joint technological research, and the application of achievements, thereby adding technological momentum to China's drive for greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology and its efforts to expand high-level opening up.
